Aroma: lemon, roasted wood, smoked ham and coffee. Ash, green tea, malt. Some ripe baked apples and ginger cookies. Just great. I will pour some water anyway. More or less the same, just lemon and bacon notes are more present. Light and robust at the same time..
Palate: fine lemon and apple notes got kicked out by smoke, ash, salt, seaweed and coffee. Meaty and thick, oily. Rich malt. Bacon, ginger, eucalyptus, some ripe fruits are coming back. I'm curious what notes water will bring here - more fresh and minty, but also more salty and sweet. What a complexity and purity. Finish: salty, fresh, full of lemon, salt, ginger, coffee..
Comments: power and elegance, richness and purity. Why some many people like Lagavulin.. Sometimes I forget how great this malt is.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
