Aroma: strong vanilla. Then lemon, pharmacy herbs and wood polish. Smoked fish, dry smoke, pepper. Dry wood, medicines. Water helps to open up the youthfullness and cask - lemon drops, vanilla and pepper with sweet peat.
Palate: sweet, spicy. Pepper, lemon, vanilla, mint, ginger. Fresh, powerful. Salt and lemon are winning the show. Just sweet side is taken by salty, maritime notes. Dried seaweed. Finish: salty, with mix of vanilla, grass and citrus fruits. Traces of cedar wood and coffee.
Comment: straightforward, fresh. Medicinal and maritime. If standard 12yo would be cask strength, I would be expecting something similar. I will try to source recent official Cask Strength.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
