Aroma: spicy - cloves and spiced herbs. Later: oranges, mashed potatoes, thyme tea and gentle old wood notes.
Palate: quiet closed - with wood I get peppers, cloves and orange peel, peppermints, aniseed and orange liqueur. More and more of ripe apples, tropical fruits, oranges, tangerines. Deep and rich, but humble. Finish: short, bit too dry, notes of hay and mint with spices and wood.
Comment: interesting, really interesting. Shy and cloes, but I like it's balance of wood and fruits. But that strange style of smashed potatoes is still in my mind.. (the great Serge Valentine, as I read after this sample, finds mustard notes in some Banffs, that might be something similar here..). I was expecting something interesting and I've got it. Not the best in the world, but quality is high.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
