Aroma: dry smoke, engine oil. Smoked plums, mushrooms, earth notes. Diesel, old tires. With water and time I get more of citrus fruits and grass. Old coffin (wood, leather). With water much more fresh.
Palate: pleasant, complex - fruits, nuts, ashes, eucalyptus. Mango and ashes. With water grass nad citrus fruits comes nicely. Burnt wood. Finish: dryish. Ashes, grass and lots of lemon drops with pepper. Pleasant and long.
Comment: I not a fan of Rum matured malts. But this is something special and exceeding any expectations. Interesting, original, concentrated. Powerful and expressive. I will try to source more Ardmores of such maturation - great balance of fruit and smoke.

The ratings system that we use is based on personal opinion and reflects only a personal momentary impression about the tasted whiskey. We do not represent any producers of whiskey and we are not in the whiskey business ourselves. However, we have our personal sympathies for particular whiskeys. We are human, therefore the ratings that we give are subjective. Furthermore, they are given with comparisons to other whiskeys in mind. We decided to use convienent and widely used 100 points system.
